We counted observations of mean daily maximum air temperatures for Tokyo from 1998 to 2020. To show the data, we have chosen a pattern inspired by the famous flag of Japan. This international icon adapted to the data visualisation serves us to show the increase in temperature over the year. The greener, the warmer. This flag is officially called Nisshoki ("flag of the sun") but is more commonly known in Japan as Hinomaru ("circle of the sun"). It embodies the country's sobriquet: Land of the Rising Sun.
